You CAN get MG Rover Parts
You can still get MG Rover parts, and the supply lines are in good health thanks to XPart and Nanjing Automobile Corporation’s (NAC) investment in the marque.
The MG Rover vehicle parc post-1999 is proving extraordinarily resilient, with just 205 vehicles from the post-1999 parc lost between September 2006 and September 2007. The total MG Rover UK vehicle parc (from the 100-800 series of the 1990s to the present day) stands at 1,356,341. The market for MG Rover spares is in no danger of fading away any time soon. In fact, for new vehicles (i.e. those produced since 1999), the UK parc is relatively stable. Any vehicles that have been written-off have been offset by new registrations from vehicle stocks.
XPart struck a deal with NAC to supply parts manufactured in China using the Longbridge tooling. The deal means that brand new parts for MGs and Rovers are available – body panels and trim, chassis components, electrical parts and engine spares. A total of 55,730 parts have been purchased from NAC so far, with a further 76,731 scheduled over the next eighteen months. With NAC acting as a purchasing agent, even for parts they themselves will not be putting back into production, the future continues to look secure for MG Rover owners.
